White Wine Carpet Smell

Sponge the area of the carpet that still smells like wine.

The vinegar in the solution will act as a deodorizer to help remove the smell. Allow the club soda or white wine to sit a moment gently blot with a cloth and repeat with carpet cleaner. Some wine may have also absorbed into the carpet pad under the carpet. Be careful not to overdo it or you will strip color from the carpet.

Moisten the carpet fibers down to the bottom of the carpet to loosen any remaining wine stains. This household acid is cheap and effective at cutting though wine related odors within carpeting. Blot up as much of the spilled wine as possible. This is a surprisingly effective way to clean or reduce stubborn but fresh red wine stains.

Next blot the area dry with a clean dry cloth or paper towel. Pull up the carpet. You should be able to remove the rest of the stain if you go over the entire area with a steam cleaner. Use plain water or mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm.
