Wood Brick Floor

The bricks are a salvaged style that mimics reclaimed brick from old buildings.

Laid in a basic herringbone pattern or bond each brick section forms a square of infill within a grid of wood. Besides being durable brick is also fire resistant keeping. Recent advances in manufacturing and finishes mean that wood floors can now be installed throughout the home and over a wide variety of subfloors. Brick floor tiles are durable and they offer a unique look to any area.

When kitchens used large wood burning fireplaces or wood stoves to cook the floors and hearth areas were typically covered in brick. Industrious owners lilah and nick made a pattern of the wood bricks end cuts up above and then grouted it with cement which makes some bricks darker while others take on a muted silvery sheen. Just as there are wood look porcelain tiles there are numerous brick look tiles that are designed to look and feel just like real brick pavers. Aesthetically brick flooring fits best with rustic home styles such as cottage or farm style residences and in rooms where an informal look is desired such as sun porches or entryways.

Brick look porcelain floor tile is generally much thinner than brick pavers and overall a lighter material ideal for subfloors that can t take too much weight. But installing brick floors is often a time consuming messy and expensive process. They are moisture resistant and don t show dirt easily making them ideal for a home with children or pets.
